Homeless Management Information System is a computerized data collection application that facilitates the collection of information on homeless individuals and families using residential or other homeless services and stores that data in an electronic format.

Who is in charge of the HMIS?

In Nebraska it is the NMIS board working with its partner members (Lincoln, Omaha , CAN and BOS)

Who should use HMIS?

Any agency who serves the homeless or near homeless. Some agencies are required to use the HMIS if they receive funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

What HMIS Software do you use?

In Nebraska we use Clarity which is proprietary software of Bitfocus

How much does HMIS cost?

HMIS is subsidized by HUD, there are minimal costs for annual licenses and support.

What type of internet connection do I need?

We recommend a broadband internet connection. Approved internet browsers are Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
