City of Lincoln, continuum of care programs receive $10.1 million in HUD grants to address homelessness

The City of Lincoln and Nebraska Balance of State Continuum of Care were awarded Continuum of Care Program Awards on Thursday.

The awards were presented by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Field Office Director Kitty A. Amaya. The grants aim to address homelessness in Lincoln and communities around the state.

The Nebraska Balance of State Continuum of Care was awarded $5,024,045 to broaden their services in the state. The organization, which was initiated by HUD in 1994, operates under UNL’s Center on Children, Families and the Law and collaborates with local agencies across Nebraska with the commitment of ending homelessness. Chairperson Tera Kucera said that the funds will be used to target underserved areas in the state.
