Building Trauma-Capable Schools Initiative

In 2025, CCFL was honored to receive a Women Investing in Nebraska (WIN) grant to expand its Building Trauma-Capable Schools initiative across the state. WIN’s belief and partnership will empower CCFL to create sustainable, trauma-capable learning environments that will positively impact thousands of students and educators across Nebraska for years to come.

This comprehensive training series offers an accessible, phased approach to building a trauma-capable system of support that can be easily integrated into any educational environment. Through our progressive learning model, educators develop a nuanced, empathic approach to supporting students who have experienced trauma, transforming the classroom into a space for resilience and success.

Trauma-Capable Schools (TCS) is a two-phase evidence-informed training that transforms theoretical concepts into actionable, daily strategies designed to enhance students’ academic achievement and social-emotional development.

Phase One: Establishes a foundation for advanced knowledge of trauma-capable care

Phase Two: Synthesizes learning into application and self-sustainable assessment
