Cody Struss, BS, is a Field Training Specialist II at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Center on Children, Families, and the Law (CCFL). Struss spent a decade working directly in child welfare as a Child and Family Service Specialist in Nebraska, addressing complex cases with compassion and expertise. Additionally, Struss served ten years in law enforcement, honing his investigation and community engagement skills. Since 2015, Struss has worked on CCFL’s training team in partnership with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Division of Children and Family Services. CCFL’s training team delivers comprehensive New Worker Training to Child and Family Services Specialists, supervisors, and Tribal staff via classroom and distance learning. In his nine years as a Field Training Specialist II, Struss has assisted with curriculum development and mentored trainees by coordinating ongoing training, providing experiential learning experiences, ensuring training completion, and supporting the transfer of learning from the classroom to the field. Struss is committed to safeguarding children and serving families and has over 29 years of combined experience in law enforcement and child welfare.
