Christine Henningsen receives NSBA 2024 Award of Special Merit

Congratulations to Christine Henningsen, Associate Director of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Center on Children, Families, and Law, who received the 2024 Award of Special Merit from the Nebraska State Bar Association (NSBA)! 

The Hon. PaTricia A. Freeman, NSBA President, honored Henningsen on October 8 during the 2024 NSBA Public Service and Section Awards ceremony. The NSBA presents the Award of Special Merit to an individual or organization for services advancing the legal profession, the administration of justice, and public interest.  

Henningsen received the prestigious award for her significant contributions to improving the juvenile justice system in Nebraska. Her commitment to mentoring law students and attorneys interested in working in Juvenile Court, her leadership on the NSBA Juvenile Law and Public Interest Law Sections, and her time spent volunteering with the Volunteer Lawyers Project have all made a profound impact. 

Henningson has served as a legal trainer and Project Director at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Center on Children, Families, and Law since 2013, and became an Associate Director in 2021. Her unwavering passion for helping the helpers and her career-long dedication to advancing advocacy in youth justice are truly inspiring.
