Goal: An Integrated and Cohesive System of Care to Prevent and End Youth Homelessness and Assist Youth Thrive by building upon the strengths of our communities, applying effective and innovative new approaches that are designed and approved by the youth themselves, and continuously evaluating to build a more effective system across the entire state.

The Youth Homeless Demonstration Project will provide critical resources for the Nebraska BoS CoC to continue the development and bridge building across systems in the state that play such important roles in serving our most vulnerable youth. Many state, regional, and local partners have come together on this grant and have committed to being an integral partners in the planning, development, and implementation of a youth serving system that makes youth homelessness rare, of short duration when it does occur, and non-recurring.
This grant will also be critical in the development of much needed, long-term, effective, and innovative housing and homeless prevention services to ensure that our most at-risk youth are able to meet their immediate prevention or housing needs and to help them thrive despite their current challenging life circumstances.

Thank you to U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Develop for this opportunity to serve Nebraska youth, to the multiple state systems that have committed to be a part of this effort including the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, the Nebraska Department of Education, the State of Nebraska Judicial Branch, and the Nebraska Commission on Housing and Homelessness. Thank you to our Nebraska Children and Families Foundation partners. Most importantly to the many dedicated service professionals at CoC member agencies from Falls City to Harrison and everywhere in between helping to end homelessness every day.

We at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln – Center on Children, Families, and the Law and on behalf of the entire Nebraska Balance of State Continuum of Care sincerely thank all of the many partners that have come together thus far in this endeavor and we look forward to the challenging but vital work to come in coordinating an effective community plan for ending youth homelessness in rural Nebraska.
