Training Services

Wilson Training Room

At the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Center on Children, Families, and the Law (CCFL), we’re all about supporting the people who support others. That’s why we offer flexible, specialized training programs designed to meet the needs of professionals, communities, and families. Our team brings a wide range of backgrounds and real-world experience to the table, focusing on the challenges children and families face when interacting with the legal system and related services. While some trainings are designed for specific audiences through targeted contracts, we also offer select opportunities open to the public.

Online, In Person, Hybrid

In addition to our core focus areas, CCFL offers training in personal safety - customized for professionals across a variety of trades and industries - as well as trauma-informed care, secondary traumatic stress and resilience, cultural humility, and strategies for effective communication and collaboration within complex systems. Whether you're attending in person or online, our trainings are practical, engaging, and tailored just for you.

Rooted in our mission of “helping the helpers,” our training approach is hands-on, collaborative, and grounded in real-world application. Our team of subject matter experts brings decades of experience across fields like child welfare, legal systems, and behavioral health - paired with a strong foundation in engaging, research-informed instructional design. We focus on turning knowledge into meaningful action, equipping professionals with the tools to create lasting impact while feeling confident, supported, and safe in their roles.

Who are CCFL training opportunities for, and what topics do you cover?

CCFL trainings are designed for a wide range of audiences - including professionals, caregivers, educators, and community members. Some sessions are open to the public, while others are developed for specific partner groups or through contract work. Topics include child welfare, legal system processes, trauma-informed care, workforce development, and more. We also offer custom training content tailored to your specific needs.

What formats are available, and where do trainings take place?

We offer flexible delivery options, including:

  • In-person sessions at our modern training spaces in downtown Lincoln, NE
  • On-site training at your organization or one of our many partner locations across Nebraska
  • Engaging online learning, both live (synchronous) and self-paced (asynchronous)

No matter your preference, we will help find the format and setting that works best for you.

Can you customize training for my organization?

Absolutely. We specialize in adapting existing content or creating new material to meet your team's goals, schedule, and preferred delivery style. Whether you're starting from scratch or want to build on an existing idea, we will collaborate with you to develop a tailored solution.

Do you provide attendance tracking or reports?

Yes. For contracted or large-scale trainings, we can provide detailed reports upon request - including participant attendance, completion data, evaluation results, and other key metrics to support your internal documentation and planning needs.

How much does training cost?

Training costs vary depending on the content, delivery method, and scope of your request. We offer both individual (per-user) pricing and group rates, depending on your needs. Custom training packages are also available by contract.

To help you get started, we offer a free consultation to learn more about your goals and recommend options that align with your budget. Our team will work with you to create a cost-effective plan that delivers real value for your team or organization.
