Ryan Sullivan, Robert J. Kutak Distinguished Professor of Law, is the Center on Children, Families, and the law first faculty fellow. The center's faculty fellowship program launched this spring to facilitate creative activity and collaboration between center projects and campus faculty. Professor Sullivan will work closely with the center's Community Services Division to help develop and advance research evidence that informs practice to prevent and end homelessness. Professor Sullivan, former director of the Housing Justice Clinic and founder of the Tenant Assistance Project, brings a wide range of professional expertise and research to this work. Professor Sullivan has conducted extensive research in the areas of housing justice and homelessness prevention and has worked with policymakers at the federal, state, and local levels to reduce homelessness through policy measures aimed at reducing the frequency and collateral consequences of evictions. The fellowship will specifically focus on studying the impact of eviction prevention interventions on the inflow into homelessness. The center looks forward to partnering with Professor Sullivan to address the urgent issue of homelessness and to expand policies and practices that can help ensure everyone has a home.
