9th Annual Iowa/Nebraska Peer-to-Peer Homeless Symposium in Des Moines

UNL-CCFL Community Services’ Jeff Chambers and Brittany Brakenhoff attended the 9th Annual Iowa/Nebraska Peer-to-Peer Homeless Symposium in Des Moines, Iowa July 12th and 13th.

Chambers facilitated a panel of Iowa and Nebraska experts on Eviction Prevention efforts, including Rachael Tomlinson Dick, JD, a Housing Justice Fellow in the University of Nebraska College of Law’s clinical program. Brakenhoff presented on Housing Youth and Housing First.

There were over 300 participants from Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, and Kansas, including HUD Region VII Administrator Ulysses “Deke” Clayton and a video greeting from United States Interagency Council on Homelessness Director Jeff Olivet.

The symposium was an excellent renewal after a two-year in-person absence. Peer sharing and learning from colleagues across the region all focused on preventing and ending homelessness.
